Leanne Pooley is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished documentary filmmakers. Recent documentaries include; * Relative Guilt - winner “Best Documentary” 2000 Qantas Media Awards, * Kiwi Buddha which screened on the National Geographic Network; * Haunting Douglas which has been highly successful on the international film festival circuit and won the “Best Director” and “Best Editor” awards at the 2005 New Zealand Screen Awards; * The Promise about voluntary euthanasia which won the 2006 New Zealand Screen Awards for “Best Documentary” and “Best Cinematography”; * Try Revolution completed in 2006, which explores how rugby was used to help bring down South Africa’s Apartheid regime; and * Being Billy Apple, about the man who made himself a living work of art, in 2007. * “The Topp Twins - Untouchable Girls” a theatrical feature about the lives of lesbian, singing, twin sister duo, the Topp Twins.
